Charity! Do it!

charity-do-it

First message comes from Nick Nitro!

I’m all up for getting something in return, and what better when helping
out a good cause like Relay for Life!

I’ve decided after talking to a few people after showing the demo around
and what not that my first CD for charity, entitled “Taking In The Heat” is
going to be available for pre-order (U.S. only) per donation. This CD’s
proceeds go all towards my cousin’s charity, Amie’s Angels, which is a
Relay for Life charity. It’s my way of donating to the cause. You donate
anything over $5.00, and you get a CD, with audio you can laugh at or laugh
with.

Each CD is wrapped in cellophane, giving it that fresh “fancy schmancy new
cd feeling” that you’d get if you’d purchase a normal CD in the store. It
is made with care and love from little fairies and elves who work in my
secret dungeon. (Translation: Mixonic, Inc. makes them for us…) The CD
features the talent of myself (Nick Nitro), James Dailey & Jon Bettin (my
partners in crime from The Good, The Bad & The Geeky), JT & Scott of the
Gigcast, and a few other of my friends. It includes the first ever skit I
performed for the Gigcast, “Pinky & The Brain Plan To Take Over the
Gigcast”, and my big parody for the Gigcast, “Kurtz vs. The World”.

The CD also features:
Cover Songs from The Nightmare Before Christmas, That Thing You Do and
more, plus un-aired Gigcast promos!

If you like stuff I’ve done for the Gigcast and Good, the Bad & The Geeky,
then this is definitely gonna be something that may interest you, AND if
anything, all proceeds go to my cousin’s cause!

Only thing is, this is all DONATION ONLY, with one CD per-donation with the
pre-order per donation lasting until February 17th, 2008. That’s only a week
from now. I know that is short-term notice, but we are getting enough to
include pre-orders for you guys AND for the MegaCon. Anything after then
would be cutting it close time-wise so hence why the only week-long
pre-order per donation timeline. Also note: Shipping is included
automatically for you and if anyone donates only 10 bucks, I’ll even throw
in a quick sketch of a D4K character!!

So give to a good cause and get a CD out of it

Next, Michael Moss, Co-Founder of Dung Beetle Comics wants me to mention that Quitting-Time will be achieving it’s two year anniversary this Wednesday. Be sure to check out today’s extra-big update, as well as the extra big update next Wednesday.

Let’s hope this is a prett eventful week!

news-update

I’m back from my week off, and I have some news to put up!

First off, we missed a lot of Mocca news, hopefully our resident-Mocca attendee (Hey there Wiggly!) will be filling us in on the experience.

In other news of interest, Websnark is doing a series of posts on different webcomics/authors, and they’re pretty good reads, give them a look!

Next, in Zuda news, Pray For Death has updated! In fact, it’s 4 new pages! Check it out!

Lastly, friend of the Scienteers, Nick Nitro is in a movie! I’ll just copy/paste his message here!

Hey everyone.Just a heads up that I was recently in a movie about a year or two ago, with some old friends of mine. Tami (Tamara) has made this really really really funny movie, so much so that I had to use italics. It’s called Johnny Appleweed. Yeah, you heard right.

While I’d love to tell you the plot, the trailers and websites here do the job much, much better than I ever will. Thing is, my friend needs your help. Heck, I do too. Apparently they are in a contest over at “From Here To Awesome” which will choose a winner and distribute the film.

Now, that is VERY awesome. I mean, sure, the imdb-listing is sweet, but if you could help not only me, but my friends, I would think of you as a rather swell person, dude (or dudette).

Here’s how to help: Click Here To Go To From Here To Awesome and register and just comment and vote away Click Here To Go To The You-Tube Page and Register/Login and Click/rate away!

Anyway, sorry for the lack on updates from the inbox, things should be back up to speed now!

No excuses, late news.

no-excuses-late-news

Let’s catch up with the mailbag, shall we?

First off, a bit of upsetting news from our buddy over at D4K.

On June 15th, I was robbed, I lost over 7k worth of electronics, some of
which are my computers, scanners, iMac, etc.  All of those things are what
I use to do my podcast and my webcomic, relying on using scarce internet
access once a week until I can get a more stable source.

After discussing it with some friends, I am now currently offering free
sketches for $5.00.  All money donated will get a sketch, while I am also
taking donations via paypal as per the donate button on dribbleforkids.com, I am also accepting check and money order, along with a return
address, to:

D4K Studios
Attention: Sketch
PO Box 155
West Jefferson, OH 43162

Any money at all is extremely beneficial, so if you could please please
please get this out, I’d greatly appreciate it.

So please help the guy out! Totally crappy situation.

In other news, have you seen the conclusion to HIGH MOON? We’ve been keeping track of the comic, and we naturally like to see our news investments through, up to the end, so be sure to check it out.

Speaking of Dave (one of the guys behind HIGH MOON), you should check out his Newsarama guest column, I (heart) Webcomics.

As for the lateness in news, don’t worry. I’ll be making sure it won’t happen again. We’re also got a few other scienteer things in the background that are going on.

On a more personal note, I lost my archive of comics and PSDs! So my own webcomic is on an extended break at this point. I’ll make sure to keep people informed of what happens at the site.
