our-first-newspost

Where to begin with of first official newspost… How about we dig into the e-mail and see what’s shown up?

Our first bit of news comes from a Mister David Gallaher writer of the werewolf slash western comic HIGH MOON which is currently running on Zuda comics, which apparently updates fortnightly. David would also like me to direct you to the production blog for the comic. Here you can find more of artist Steve Ellis’s work for the comic. David stressed that he and Steve are available for interviews, so we may just take him up on that. Then again he also used the word fortnightly in his e-mail so I can already tell he’s a character and a half.

Be sure to check out some of the posts that concern the creation of the comic. It’s always nice to glean a thing or two from others!

Next in our inbox is a message from the creator of Lucky and Guy. I’m just going to quote what she said:

Lucky and Guy? They’re pretty cool. They just graduated and they’re still
looking for work, so my heart goes out to them. They talk politics a lot,
but their opinions aren’t always the most informed, but their bleeding
liberal hearts are in the right place, bless their souls. I’ve been telling
their stories in comics since I first got them published in my middle school
newspaper. If you check out my website, http://www.luckyandguy.com/, you’ll
be able to see all the comics that have been published in my high school
and college newspapers (Warning: quality varies), and beyond. Who knows?
You might like it.

So go ahead and give them a visit, afterall, you might like it.

And our final bit of news from the inbox is from Geoffrey Thorne who wants me to direct everyone to his comic GEOFFREY THORNE’S DREAMNASIUM which can be found at Webcomics Nation. He also mentions that he’ll be wrapping up his second issue within the next couple of weeks. So Geoffrey? Congrats on the milestone. I can’t wait to hear about issue number fifty.

If you have any news to send us, you can e-mail us, or use our handy on-site form! So keep the news coming people, don’t make us search you guys out!

news-and-more-news

This week has had some good news for the Create-A-Comic team namely a $2000 dollar boost to their funds from the. The project involves webcomic artists sending off comics without any words for children to fill in, and also blank strips for budding artists. This is their award was given by the Association of Schools of Public Health to help celebrate National Public Health Week. The project is worth a look, with a huge list of excellent list of webcomics involved.

In other news, The Perry Bible Fellowship artist Nicholas Gurewitch has decided to stop drawing the PBF on a regular basis due to feeling that the pace he is drawing them at is far too fast. Don’t fret though it will still continue the strip admittedly on a its-done-when-its-done schedule          Edit (29th february) According to the Editor and Publisher, the PBF is going on a monthly schedule.

the-return-of-boxcar-comics

Boxcar comics had become a collective without the collectiveness. A group of comics joined together by an enforced links section but no more. The group has redone their main page and is planning to do monthly podcasts, published jam comics and increasing their presence as a group at conventions.

The group consists of:

Tom Brazelton - Theater Hopper
Phil Chan - Matriculated
Joe Dunn - Joe Loves Crappy Movies, Matriculated
Ali Grahm - Afterstrife
Zach Miller - Joe and Monkey
Wes Molebash - You’ll Have That

Good luck to the group as it should be interesting to watch

Keenspot gets ready for “MENAGE A 3″

keenspot-gets-ready-for-menage-a-3

Quickly after Easter Island fell to the ever increasing power of Keenspot another webcomic entered their fold, Menage a 3.

Menage a 3 is a new comic from Gisele Lagace And Dave Zero1 (Gisele is the artist from Penny and Aggie). As only two comics have been produced so far I have only the offical blurb to tell me what this webcomic is about. What I can say is the drawing style is similar to Penny and Aggie and the comic is aimed at a more mature audience. (more…)

Reboot

reboot

Once a upon a time there was a TV program called Reboot. It was a 3D cartoon about a mainframe and its protectors. They made seven seasons and two movies and then it stopped. The fans of Reboot cried out for more but that was 2001. Then in 2007 Rainmaker Animation declared that it would make a triology of new movies.

But Urahara I hear you hark, what has this got to do with webcomics?

Well the fans have been allowed to submit their ideas via comic form and the first of these comics is available online if you register at the Reboot site.

The comic itself is in the style of the old cartoon but with a comicbook feel to it. You can view pages either close up or with two pages on screen at a time and clicking to see the textboxes. I personally prefer looking at the page close up. The comic is being released in issues with part one released in its 26 page glory.

The storyline is of standard fair to Reboot fans, and the plot might be a little unfamilar for people who haven’t seen the series, but hopefully not too confusing.

Overall something for fans of Reboot to get their teeth into, and it might be worth a look for newcomers too. Now if only I could find the TV series to watch again.
